National School Bus Safety Week: 7 Ways HSM Transportation Supports School Bus Safety As National School Bus Safety Week approaches, it’s a critical time to emphasize the importance of safe transportation for our children. Celebrated in the third week of October, this week promotes awareness and reinforces the safety measures associated with school bus travel. At HSM Transportation, we are proud to contribute to this mission by manufacturing high-quality school bus seats and parts that prioritize safety, comfort, and durability. Why National School Bus Safety Week Matters? National School Bus Safety Week serves as a reminder to all involved in school transportation—drivers, school administrators, parents, and students—about the importance of ensuring safety on school buses. As manufacturers of essential bus components, we recognize our responsibility in providing safe seating to the bus manufacturers to keep children safe on their journeys to and from school. 7 Ways HSM Transportation Supports School Bus Safety 1.Manufacturing of Safe Seating At HSM Transportation, we specialize in designing and manufacturing durable and safe school bus seats. Our products undergo rigorous testing to meet or exceed all applicable safety standards, including FMVSS and CMVSS. We do our part to help protect students during transport. 2.Innovative Safety Features Our Genesis 3-Point Lap and Shoulder Belt Seat highlights our commitment to safety. This seat offers adjustable shoulder and chest clips and adjustable lap belts to accommodate most passenger sizes. With over 15 inches of aisle space at the hip and 12 inches at the cushion, this design allows for zero loss of occupancy and facilitates easier emergency egress. Additionally, the 3-Point seat can be easily converted to or from other Genesis offerings, providing flexibility in equipping a bus. Genesis also comes with an ICS Integrated Child Seat for our younger riders. It functions as a standard 3-Point Lap/Shoulder Belt seat when not in use. Once you open the easy flap, it reveals a booster cushion and 4-point harness for the rider. The seat is easily adjusted to fit young passengers. 3.Regular Compliance with Safety Standards We keep up to date with the latest safety regulations and standards set by both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Transport Canada. Our commitment to compliance keeps our products up to date and provides additional peace of mind to bus builders, school transportation directors, and parents alike. 4.Sustainable Manufacturing Practices We prioritize sustainability in our seating design and build. By using eco-friendly materials and methods, we not only contribute to a safer environment but also produce durable products that can withstand the rigors of daily use, further ensuring student safety. Typically, there is over 90% recyclable material in an HSM school bus seat. 5.Collaborative Partnerships with Bus Manufacturers HSM Transportation collaborates closely with bus manufacturers to provide them with the highest quality seats and components. This partnership focuses on school bus safety from design to implementation. 6.Ongoing Product Testing and Improvement Safety is an ongoing commitment at HSM Transportation. We conduct regular product testing both in our test lab and with lab partners. We gather feedback from our customers and industry partners to continually improve our seat designs and safety features. 7.Educational Outreach on Bus Safety We believe that awareness is key to safety. HSM Transportation participates in educational outreach efforts, working with school organizations like the NSTA, NASDPTS and media partners. We offer training at events like the TSD and state meetings. We provide materials and outreach to promote safe bus practices and highlight the importance of properly using our seating and other products to increase safety on the bus. Conclusion National School Bus Safety Week serves as an important reminder of our shared responsibility to keep children, aides and drivers, safe while they travel to school. At HSM Transportation, we are dedicated to providing high-quality school bus seats and parts that enhance safety and comfort for students. Our commitment to innovation, compliance, and community outreach is how we play a crucial role in the safety of school transportation. Join us in celebrating National School Bus Safety Week and our commitment to doing all we can to provide each bus passenger a safe journey to and from school!
